/unsigned with a burning passion

1. Age != Maturity (behavior wise). I've seen 10 yr olds act more mature than 25 yr olds. (Yes I'm only 15).

2. It's age discrimination. Forcing minors to play on a different server just because of some stereotypical people.

3. We all would just lie about our age. I have no problem with saying I'm 18 even though I'm really 15. There's no way to verify that one is really younger than 18.

It is not very mature saying that there should be an age separation. A mature person would just ignore the kids in the crowd and besides if a person is TOO annoying ignore list is useful ^^

Suggestions sortof:
1. More open areas to explore and a freedom to explore it. People seem to prefer some sort of rides that allow them to view the world instead of a more efficient insta travel.
2. To fight anyone, anywhere, anytime. In other words Duel Option.
3. Abilities/Items/Mounts/Pets that can impress the other players. I would like for Abilities to do most of impressing, some very unique ability like mind control or telekinesis for the most successful. Like giving some rare and very expensive cards to players. Also why should Ranger be the only class having a pet? I mean you could make some sort of ridable pets anyone can train. Just imagine Mage riding a dragon and crushing the opposition below.
4. Separating skills into an Arena Category and non-Arena Category. Arena skills work everywhere while non-Arena should work only outside Arenas. Also less focus on the non-Arena skills balancing. If a spell is pwnzor it should be restricted (sort of like elite) not changed. If I know one thing it is that people want to pwnzor other people and show off... Arena skills should be very balanced and only skills allowed in official arenas that have some sort of importance like HA,AB, GvG etc.
My thoughts exactly ^^

I don't see how this would work, and as bookworm says, I have seen 13 year olds act alot more maturely than grown adults, so it's not really a very good idea imo.
I am 16 myself. Either way, you would probably have to rethink the age boundaries anyway, as in most countries 16 means you are an adult anywho
Also, how would it affect people playing with friends how happen to be above/below the boundary?

I had an idea about that which I posted a page ago:

Besides, just because guilds would recruit in 18+ districts doesn't mean they would have all mature guilds, but there's probably a higher possibility of it.

I think this would be an awesome idea...at the end of the day, I'd really like to find a place to rest my feet. Unfortunately, though, I doubt this type of open-ended housing could work in a game other than Ultima Online. Dark Age of Camelot had a housing system which placed all homes on a sub-server, allowing guilds to create small towns and marketplaces, which would give GW2 some more flavor. Black Sephir's response gave me a laugh.

[PvP Balance Updates]

ANet originally said they would change skills every week to keep PvP fresh. They did they by nerfing the most used builds in HA / GvG. They kept doing this without reverting the nerfed skills later, so they eventually was stuck with alot of nerfed skills. They now have to rebuff them :P.

Right now we have PvE and PvP skills, my idea is simple:
-Maybe have seperate PvE and PvP skills.
-Ban lists in competitive PvP (and maybe PvE).
-To keep the game fresh ANet would ban a few select skills every (week/2 weeks/month) BUT not nerf them. They would then allow them back in and remove a few other skills for that month. This way, builds just need to be CHANGED but skills are not removed forever. This would add diversity imho.
-Each type of PvP could have diff ban lists or none at all.
-If a skill in AB (example, doubt will be in GW2) is breaking the game but not in PvP it could be disabled in AB (but kept in GvG / HA etc). Due to PvP skills being the same on every form of PvP (keep it this way) that skill may be banned from AB forever, but nevermind .

This idea was based on the ideas of:
-Original ANet plans.
-Monthly Tonics.
-My own ideas xD.

One last example if you dont get it (ill use months as an example):
-Month 1
Disabled xxx
Disabled xxx
Disabled xxx
-Month 2
(All previous disabled skills are back in the mix so players can make new builds)
Disabled xxx
Disabled xxx
etc

They decide how many they disable, but keep Izzy on a leash so we dont have PvP with 5 skills -_-.

Looking back on the history of Guild Wars so far, the future for Guild Wars 2 seems bleak if they do not change some things in their game play model.

When Guild Wars originally came out, the amount of grind in it was certainly minimal. But with time, required titles came into existence. Now, this can look good on paper. Do things for these people, and you get points towards them. Do enough things and get enough points and you can move on. Sounds good, right? Wrong. When introduced to the game it did not go so smoothly. It required grind to move on. That was not all, they added they titles such as Lightbringer which added benefits in game to those who could get a higher title. Where did their motto of player skill being more important that time played go. They were slowly the establishing the exact opposite.

After Guild Wars Nightfall I thought for sure they would not repeat the same mistake of implementing required grind. I was sadly proven wrong. Along came Guild Wars: Eye of the North in which grind was now required for even simple things such as armor. Now, there will many out there who will say, "Well, you do not need to get the armor. It is optional." That is true, but when playing a game it should not feel like work or a chore to be able to access its content. If I wanted to get Eye of the North armor for each of my characters I would have to kill so many enemies to the extent where it becomes so pointless and repetitive I could care less.

From such mistakes, the Guild Wars team can learn. In Guild Wars 2 do not continue to follow down the path of adding more and more grind with each new addition to this game series. I (And certainly many others feel the same way) really enjoy this game because their is so little grind in relation to the other games out there. Please, make Guild Wars 2 a game meant for fun and not a second job.

Finally, if grind must be added, make it enjoyable. Do not let it be kill 3,000 of enemy X to move on. Be creative.

In addition, many other requests come to mind:
  • Leveling
From what I read, the level cap will be either very high or non-existent in Guild Wars 2, and I am all for this granted they stop ability growth at a certain point. Higher levels could have access to new things. The one thing I am worried about, though, is that casual gamers will be pushed aside when players who have more time to access the game and have a higher level come. Do not make the benefits of having a insane level character that important. Allow casual gamers and hardcore gamers to be on equal ground. Make skill more important than time spent.
  • Auction House
Please add an auction house. This is truly a remarkable and useful feature and helps do away with much of the "WTS/WTB" spam.
  • Increased Interactivity

I am really looking forward to this new control system and how players will become much more interactive with Guild Wars universe, but in addition to controls, I would like to see some other aspects of interactivity. Possible things include: Fishing, Farming, Mining, Harvesting, etc. Things like this can give players something to do when they get bored of fighting enemies.

Another feature I would like to see implemented is emotes. These are always a great feature to online role playing games, and are great for both those who like to role play and those who do not. Emotes gives players the greater ability to show emotions in the Guild Wars universe and it would be really great to see them implemented.

Also, perhaps the ability to affect the environment around you could be added. A ranger pulls out his bow and shoots an explosive barrel. A warrior lifts a rock and throws it at his foe. An elementalist makes and ice bridge across a river.Things like this would be quite cool to see.
  • Greater Customization
Character Creation/Appearance
Really, I would like to see greater custom-ability all around. When choosing a profession, players appearance should not be chosen as well. This would add a lot of diversity into the game. Along the same lines, more options should be available when making a character; hair colors, skin colors, body sizes, facial hair, eye color, hair types, face types, age, etc.

In addition, the ability to change choices once a character is made. As many people have asked for before, NPCs like hair stylists would be great additions to the game.

Weapons/Armor/Guild Emblems/Other Equipment
In addition to character models, I think it would be nice to see some greater custom-ability in game. Like stated before, perhaps have the ability to put guild logos on armor and weapons, or for that matter the ability to create custom guild logos. Or perhaps there could be the ability to create custom weapons and armor (The armor/weapons could be made for characters beside your own, as well.)

Also, professions should be able to choose from more weapons. Rangers could have short knifes/swords, whips, throwing knifes, etc in addition to bows. Warriors could have two handed swords/axes, etc in addition to what they have now. Perhaps spell casters would be able to use a two handed focus like a book which they read from and their spells gain more power. Also, some characters should have the ability to dual wield. For example, a warrior could have a sword in each hand. (Not dual wielding like assassins. Each weapon could be chosen by the player.)

Other accessories for characters. Perhaps hats that could go over top existing head piece. Also, there could be things like earrings, bracelets, rings, glasses, etc.

Guild Halls
As for guild halls, the ability to add each guilds own unique flavor to it would be nice. Such as ability to change colors, add certain items (Pool Party?), etc.
  • Mail System
I always like this feature in games. It is nice to be able to send friends and other players notes and items in a different way than the traditional private message or trade. Also, this function can be used when another player is offline.
  • Solo-ability
Another thing I would like to see in Guild Wars 2 is the ability to solo. There are many people who either prefer to solo than to be with groups, or just like a change of pace and want to fight by themselves. For this reason, I believe the Guild Wars team should stop trying to make it impossible to fight and do things alone. Granted, players will be able to do much more with a party, but keep the option of soloing open.
  • Treasure Chests
Remove the need for a key, and possibly have treasure chests spawn in hard to get to places or be hidden throughout the map.
  • Speech Program
Have an inbuilt program in which guild and friends could talk to each other.
  • Larger Storage
Give players enough storage so they don't run into problems.

Other Possibilities
  • Player Housing
Players could purchase houses (Each in their own instance similar to Guild Halls), and could customize them and invite other players to their houses.
  • Player Shops/Merchant Districts
A nice thing to see would be the ability for players to set up their own shops. I can see how this could become messy though. Plays could litter the towns streets with their shops. To solve this problem, in towns their could be merchant districts which contain designated areas upon which players could set up their shops.

Merchant Districts could also contain all the other forms of trade in the town. Including NPC merchants, auction houses, etc.
  • Mounts
While not necessarily needed, mounts can be a very fun aspect to a game.
  • Pet Stable
Pet stables could hold a certain number of a players pets and mounts, enabling them to get more than one.
  • Guild Storage
A rather simple feature that would allow guild mates to be able to share money, gold, items, etc.
  • Dueling/Gladiator Arena
This is something that I really wish to see added. It is always fun to be able to fight someone 1v1, and I was really sad that they avoided this in the first Guild Wars. I would be fine with the ability to challenge someone to a duel, but what I think would be really cool is something like a Gladiator Arena. Players could enter a tournament of 1v1 matches and at the end the winner gets a prize. In addition, there could be spectators watching the match and maybe even betting on the victor.

Also, there could be other modes of play than just tournaments in the Gladiator Arena. There could be challenge matches where you could challenge another character to a match in the arena. There could be Boss fights where either you alone or with a party go in and challenge a difficult enemy. There could also be other forms of tournaments such as team battles, player vs monster tournaments, and free for all battle royals.

There are countless things they could do with a Gladiator Arena and it would be amazing to see, and both PvPers and PvEers alike could enjoy it.
  • New Professions?
Guild Wars 2 could also have new professions for a new game. A lot of possibilities here, and I would like to see a couple more than the standard six added. Possibly some race specific professions granted that it doesn't imbalance the game.
  • More Dungeons
It would be great to see some more D&D style dungeons. I really enjoyed the ones in Eye of the North. I would love to see some dungeons including traps, hidden passages, treasure chests, and of course bosses in Guild Wars 2.
  • Weather and Night/Day System
I think the game would be a lot of fun if they added a night/day system along with changing weather. It would be quite amazing to see. If they wanted to they could add environmental effects as well. Such as if it is raining, people move a little slower due to mud, but water based skills and weapons could deal more damage along with fire does less. If it is windy projectiles have a chance to miss, but also move faster in the direction the wind is going and deal more damage. Along with the night/day feature they could implement enemy habits such as being diurnal, crepuscular, or nocturnal.
  • Control of Towns
Guilds could be capable of capturing towns. Controlling guilds could have some control over placement of objects and npcs in towns. How which guild is chosen to control the town is decided through battles, elections, or possibly other methods.
  • Other Methods of Travel
New methods of travel would be nice to see. Instead of just being able to walk or map travel, players could potentially use mounts to travel, ride in a wagon with other players, take a boat, etc.
  • Mini-games
Mini-games are always a fun thing to do when you get bored. Having some games players could play with each other in Guild Wars would be pretty cool. Possibly Guild Wars themed versions of games like chess, checkers, card games, etc. could be added.
  • More Combat Options
Players could have more options in combat. Like a ranger could choose where to shoot his bow or an elementalist could choose where his area of effect spell will be cast. Casual gamers could stick with the current method of fighting and casting spells while players who want more control over what their character does would have this option.
  • Cut Scenes
Seeing our characters in cut scenes was great and all, but I think there should be some without our characters allowing for the cut scene to be more detailed and have better graphics.

In Closing
I'm sure there is more I could write, but this is everything that comes to my mind right now. All I have to say is that I hope the Guild Wars team is listening because there are some great ideas in this thread.
Everything (s)he said excluding inbuilt speech program. Please also add more fantasy looking world/armor/weapons etc. (yeah, i like wow graphics), big raids and a lot more dungeons/instances (yeah, from wow again), tho i dont understand why these always have to be dungeons, non-dungeon instances would be cool too. I'd also like to see non-combat professions, for example mining, smithing, crafting, enchanting, leatherworking, alchemy etc. (guess what, its wow again!).

Please do not add:

-Any sort of sidekick system, i want to play with ppl with same game experience and as much improved character.

-Titles tho ones from gw1 can be showable.

The armor art NEEDS to be much better in GW 2. I think they could have done a MUCH better job...

Hopefully GW 2 will have a MUCH better art department.

Ex: Elementalists don't feel like Elementalists I hate the armor, especially stormforged, etc. I'd rather have Mages...

Ex 2: Mesmers. Does anyone else hate their choices of armor? They look like a someone in an opera...

That's the point I think, as Lyssa is their goddess, and she is illussion and masks, which goes with theatre and stuff, so I think it's right that they look like that.

1: that's not really a suggestion to something new that's just stating that they should think about another design. Believe me everything is going to be redesigned it's a completely new game.

2: Mage is just short for magician and that covers a lot more than just the spectre of elements. Elementalist is a much more fitting word there since the solely use elements. I must say that I totally disagree with the male armor too (although some female armor is nice)

3: A mesmer is basically a performer so opera styled clothes suit the profession. I like the thing about having an artistic profession in a game it kinda adds to the cultural aspect... and elite canthan armor on female is sexy

A way to solve the instanced/persistance world debates is to have some kind of feature where you can choose between the two. Just like players have the choice between Normal Mode and Hard Mode when they leave a town, players could choose whether to travel to a persistent area or an instanced one before they leave a city.

If they wanted a persistent zone, they would just walk outside of the towns boundries. If they wanted instanced, they could click some kind of button, and it would create a little portal thingy that would take players to their private copy of the world, similar to the way GW works now.

This way, players will get the best of both worlds. They'll keep the instanced areas for farming, questing, etc., but they can also have a persistent world for more cooperative play, not to mention world PvP. It'll give players a lot more freedom to play the way they want to play.

What I'd like to see is a character creation system which does not tie you to a specific class. It would be great to develop your character any way you want and not be tied to some arbitrary class system. In reality, people would most likely spend most of their time playing one class. However, when they are sick of playing as a warrior, they should be able to switch to being an elementalist and then a necro, etc. The GW1 system did this to an extent by allowing selection of secondary classes, but I'd love to see that with both "primary" and "secondary" classes.

It would give people the freedom to bounce around and enjoy all aspects of the game, and give them the motivation to unlock all the skills available. It woud also make getting a group together easier as anyone could potentially fill the roles needed. I really don't see the downside to this break from traditional RPG elements. It only gives the player the ability to get more involved with their character, and makes the game more accessable to those who want to play all classes but don't have/dont want to spend the time to invest in developing 7 different characters.

there will not be heroes....each toon will have a companion they can choose to bring. if you choose to role alone then your toon will get a buff...but neg on the heroes.

and viking god nailed the char creation issue on the head......char creation should be very similar to morrowind or oblivion.

Default Alchemy,why not.

In other RPGS such as dragon quest/rogue galaxy the idea of merging weapons/materials together to get a better one would is pretty awesome, except in guild wars it woud just get a different skin. It would have 2 kind of modes, one that uses recipes and one that uses your intuition.

So say for example in free developement you want a big ass fiery sword in GW2, you'd have to collect say 100 fiery hearts, any collectors sword(for the base and the inherit mdos of this will be on the product) and then maybe include greens into this, so any max green req fire magic.

On top of this you could craft set special items, not green but blue, and you find the 'recipes' for this items from bosses, the profession/attributes setting of the boss then determine the type of recipe dropped. These recipes would then be used up upon creation of the item so there would be a market for the rarer ones, maybe even give them their own rarity system but that might be a bit OTT. Then once you have gathered all the stuff you go to an alchemist or what ever that can ony be found in elite areas/hard to reach places/late in the game. Once you get to this guy he'l make the item for you at a cost, which would depend on the rarity of the recipe/how rare the items needed are. It would be a bit like scavenging items for the black moa chick and tossing them in the incubator, so maybe some materials/items have to be taken to a certain place to get blessed or what ever.

Or if this were not to be exclusive to max stuff then it could be used to upgrade say a sword with 15-21 dmg to 15-22 using free developement. Definitely don't think it should be made available until a certain point in the game.

What would you like to see in GW2 transfered from GW1, added, changed, or removed from GW1? And I mean gameplay wise not item wise.

Transferred:

Guild Halls

Awesome Cut scenes

Talking NPC's GG EOTN

Map Travel of sorts

GWEN's Choose your path questline (To a point)

Pet's

PvE/PvP Split for skills that need it

Adrenaline. It's a good skill requirement ^_^

Changed:

Perhaps when Map traveling you could see your route from one town to the next. I always loved that about WoW lol.

Conditions such as Blind and daze, reduce the effect but make conditions a little harder to remove.

When adding expansion packs, don't include new classes, only new skills. As much as I love playing my ritualist, adding new classes makes it extremely hard to balance out. Just focus on improving the existing classes please.

End of Game Bosses. Make em hard. I know technically DoA and UW/FoW are REALLY the end...but I think shiro/abby/ and lich deserved to be harder.

Added:

Option to 1 vs 1 with players. (Not to be made into a High end pvp though!)

Mount's if no Map Travel

A Rez skill that cannot be removed in PvE that act's similar to rez sig, but does not take up a skill slot. Instead of being recharged though it's a one per mission or hour kind of thing.

Race Buff's. Nothing large to discriminate against players though. Something like +5 energy for Asurans and In PvP the effect can be removed if so desired.

*edit* JUST remembered this. A log when you open the game file that tells you the update notes like most MMORPGS. It would greatly reduce the lag on Wiki or the GW site when updates occur.

thats all for now.
